Since its foundation in 1996, the Living Life Centre has helped nearly 2,700 people at minimal cost to the taxpayer. The demand for our services continues to grow and we are recruiting more voluntary counsellors to meet the need. But we need help to meet the additional costs involved. The Centre helps people with issues such as depression, addiction, abuse, bereavement and relationship problems by providing an affordable and accessible service so people receive help at a critical time. Without counselling acute issues can become chronic leading to mental illness, suicide, domestic violence, delinquency, marriage breakdown and abuse. There are serious repercussions, not just for the individual, but also for the local community and society in general. Currently the health services are unable to provide this service and so it falls upon charitable organisations such as Living Life to bridge the gap. We depend largely on voluntary counsellors who give their services without pay. We do, however, incur costs for counsellors’ supervision and support, insurance, fees and training as well as reception cover. Typically a voluntary counsellor costs about €3,000 p.a. to support. In a year we would expect each counsellor to help about 20 clients. You can contribute on a once off basis or alternatively you can support us with a regular donation by completing the Standing Order request- see link below. Whichever option you choose we will be extremely grateful. Cheques should be made payable to Living Life Counselling Centre. No stamp is required As the Living Life Centre is recognised by the Revenue Commissioners as an eligible charity, tax relief may be claimed on any donation exceeding €250 in a year.
