Living Life is very appreciative of all the staff, counsellors, volunteers and friends who sold tickets to the event. All in all it was a very successful fundraiser and a very entertaining night as well.
We would also like to thank the Laughter Lounge for the help and courtesy they extended to us in the run up to the event and on the night itself.

August 08: Sunday, 24th August: Sponsored Walk in aid of Living Life Counselling
Bray Strollers completed a walk to raise funds for Living Life Counselling. The walk commenced at 10:15am from Bray Dart Station and took a route around Bray head to finish back at Bray Dart Station. The walk took about 4 hours including a rest stop. A great time was enjoyed by all participants.
About Bray Strollers
The club provides a healthy and sociable outlet for many people. The Club celebrated its 10th anniversary a couple of years ago. A quarterly Newsletter is circulated where people can express their views and keep in contact as to the various events taking place. While most members come from the Wicklow/Dublin area, many counties in Leinster are represented on the weekly walks.
The club welcomes all walkers over 18 years of age. As hillwalking is an energetic activity a reasonable level of fitness and competence on rough terrain is a necessary requirement.
Different walks are provided to cater as best as possible for the wishes of the members. Each group arranges leaders and circulates information on upcoming walks. Situated close to the Wicklow Mountains the club makes full use of this wonderful amenity with walks provided on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
If you would like more information about the group please contact them at info@braystrollers.com or call Martin Pugh on +353 1 2829909.
For more information about Bray Stollers, please check out their website at www.braystrollers.com.

Sponsorship
Raising funds for this Service is not easy - there is still a lot of stigma attached to psychological and relationship problems. That’s why initiatives such as The Bray Strollers Sponsored Walk are so important and so appreciated by us.

June 08:
Greystones man completes sponsored walk to raise funds for Living Life Counselling
Lee O Farell is a counsellor with Living Life. Like almost all of Living Life counsellors, Lee is a volunteer, he doesn’t get paid for his counselling work. Nevertheless conscious that the Service is badly in need of funds, Lee has took the initiative of walking from Greystones to Howth to raise sponsorship for Living Life. The walk took place on Saturday 21 st June, which turned out to be one of the worst days of the year. Lee will be accompanied by Andrea Pappin, who has organised the walk with him, and by a small group of family and friends. Lee and his group endured almost constant rain throughout the 30 mile walk. Nevertheless all were in very good spirits when they arrived at Howth Dart Station at 10:45 that evening.
Some of the walkers reach sunny Bray Lee and the group with the end in sight
Lee commented “I have been working as a volunteer counsellor in Living Life Counselling for almost three years. It’s very stimulating work and there is great satisfaction from helping clients to improve the quality of their lives. However I am very concerned at how poorly funded Living Life is. I decided I had to do something so I arranged a table quiz in UCD where I work, and I decided to undertake this sponsored walk with a few friends. I am really grateful to all the people who have sponsored me and who cared enough about this service to support this event.”
Living Life hugely appreciates the effort that Lee and his group put into this walk and we really appreciate the funds they have raised in sponsorship. The funds raised will make a real difference to the lives of the people who seek help from Living Life.

May 08: Living Life wins DELL Endeavour Award
In May Living Life Counselling was honoured with a DELL Endeavour Award from Bray Chamber of Commerce. The Endeavour Awards are made each year to organisations and businesses that are considered to have made an outstanding contribution to the community. Nominations are made from the general public in Bray and the winners are selected by a judging panel. Living Life won the Award in the Civic and Community category.
The judges made the award to Living Life on the basis of the organisation’s service to people who are marginalised and disadvantaged in the community for over 11 years and in particular recent initiatives to address the issue of suicide. The Awards ceremony took place in the Barracuda Restaurant in Bray on 23 rd May. The Award was presented to the Chairperson of Living Life, Chris Goodman, and the General Manager, Fran Brennan, at a ceremony in the Barracuda Restaurant on 23 rd May.
Commenting on the Award, Fran said “it’s a great honour and what is particularly significant about this Award is that that the work of Living Life Counselling is being recognised by the community which we serve”.
